Who is Azaan Jabbar?
Azaan Jabbar is the son of Jabbar Khalid, a businessman associated with the flour milling industry. The family is described as established in Pakistan’s business community, though deliberately kept out of the political spotlight that surrounds the Sharif family.
According to family sources, the marriage has been arranged between the two families in the traditional manner.
A London Connection
What makes the Azaan and Mahnoor story particularly interesting is where the two reportedly crossed paths.
Both Azaan Jabbar and Mahnoor Safdar studied at SOAS University of London, completing their higher education there. Mahnoor graduated this year — her mother, CM Maryam Nawaz, flew to London specifically to attend the graduation ceremony before returning to Lahore ahead of today’s wedding.
The nikah ceremony is scheduled for 5 PM on September 12 at Jati Umra, the Sharif family residence in Lahore.
Private by Design
The ceremony is strictly private. Only close relatives and members of the extended Sharif family are expected to attend. No baraat, no mehndi, no outdoor valima has been announced — a deliberate contrast to the high-profile celebrations that marked the wedding of Mahnoor’s brother Junaid Safdar in January, which featured a green-themed mehndi, a baraat, and an outdoor valima at Jati Umra attended by hundreds.
Mahnoor, who has consistently avoided the media spotlight throughout her life, appears to have chosen the same approach for her wedding day.
The family has not publicly announced any reception plans. The celebration is expected to remain exactly what it has been described as from the beginning — intimate, family-only, and behind closed doors.
