The 40-Minute Mystery
On a regular afternoon in Lahore’s Ghaziabad area, a mentally challenged girl was seen getting on the back of a motorcycle driven by a police officer. The officer was ASI Imran from the investigation wing. He told people nearby that the girl was wanted in a case.
What happened next has left many questions unanswered.
Inside the Police Station
ASI Imran took the girl straight into Ghaziabad police station and into a room. For the next 40 minutes, she remained there with him. During that time, the same officer even stepped out, bought pakoras from a rickshaw parked outside, and went back in.
No one stopped him. No one questioned why a vulnerable girl was being taken into a private room inside the station.
She Walked Out Alone
After roughly 40 minutes, the girl came out of the police station by herself and started walking. The ASI also left for his home.
Camera footage from private and Safe City cameras later showed the girl moving through different streets in a confused state. She kept walking for hours before finally reaching her house around 9 pm.
Her family had already made more than a dozen calls looking for her.
What the Initial Medical Check Shows
Early examination of the girl found no clear marks of violence on her body. Investigators say there is no immediate physical evidence of forced assault. However, the final forensic and DNA reports are still awaited. Those results will decide the most serious part of the case.
Why This Case Shocked Everyone
The incident took place inside a police station — a place that is supposed to protect people. The girl has intellectual disabilities and used to beg on the streets. Her family says she was taken against her will after the officer claimed she was required for investigation.
Following the complaint, police arrested ASI Imran and registered a case against him. In a rare move, the entire staff of Ghaziabad police station, including the SHO and 78 other personnel, was suspended for negligence and poor supervision.
The Question That Remains
Police now say the officer was wrong to bring the girl inside without following proper procedure. But whether a sexual assault actually took place is still under scientific examination.
DIG Investigation Syed Zeeshan Raza has been updating the progress of the probe. Authorities have made it clear that the final medical report will decide the next course of action.
Until those results come, one uncomfortable image remains: a vulnerable girl taken into a police station room for 40 minutes, then left to find her own way home while cameras silently recorded her journey.
