Heavy rain in Rawalpindi and Islamabad raised Nullah Lai water levels to 18 feet at Kattarian and 17 feet at Gawalmandi, triggering danger sirens and emergency alerts.

Heavy rain in Rawalpindi caused the water level in Nullah Lai to rise rapidly, creating a flood-like situation. Authorities instructed residents of low-lying areas to move to safer locations, while danger sirens were activated around Nullah Lai. Rescue 1122 and other emergency response agencies were placed on high alert.
According to sources, the water level in Nullah Lai reached 18 feet at Kattarian, while 17 feet was recorded at Gawalmandi, with the level continuing to rise. Earlier, the water level was recorded at 15 feet at Kattarian and 9 feet at Gawalmandi.
After rainfall began around 11:30pm, heavy rain was also recorded in the Nullah Lai catchment area. 66mm of rain was recorded in Saidpur, 65mm in Bokra, while the average rainfall in the catchment area was 57.97mm. No further rainfall was recorded during the latest break.
Heavy rain also caused water accumulation in low-lying areas of Rawalpindi. Authorities and emergency agencies are continuously monitoring the situation and have advised citizens to stay away from Nullah Lai and low-lying areas.
Meanwhile, rain continued in various sectors and surrounding areas of Islamabad. According to the Meteorological Department, partly cloudy weather is expected throughout the day, with thunderstorms and rain possible at some locations. The morning temperature was recorded at 22°C, while the maximum temperature is expected to reach 31°C. Wind speed was around 11km/h, while humidity remained above 65%.
