LAHORE: Punjab Police have suspended the entire staff of Ghaziabad Police Station, including the Station House Officer (SHO), after a police officer was accused of raping the mentally disabled daughter of a fellow Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI).
According to police, DIG Operations Faisal Kamran visited the police station late at night and ordered the suspension after finding delays in action and a failure to keep senior officers informed. SHO Shehryar was removed from his post and replaced by Ali Zaib Dastgir.
The suspensions include the SHO, sub-inspectors, eight ASIs, five head constables, front desk staff, the station clerk, drivers, and other personnel, bringing the total to 78 officials.
The accused, ASI Imran, who was serving in the investigation wing, was arrested after an FIR was registered against him. The alleged assault reportedly took place two days earlier.
Police say further investigation is underway, and authorities have vowed strict action in accordance with the law.
