KHairpur, Pakistan: A heartbreaking tragedy unfolded in Sindh’s Khairpur district, where four children from the same family drowned while bathing in the Lalan Canal, rescue officials said.
According to rescue sources, the children had gone to the canal to swim when they drowned. Emergency teams launched a rescue operation and later recovered the bodies of all four victims. The children were between 8 and 12 years old.
The incident has left the local community in mourning and renewed concerns over water safety around canals.
Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah expressed deep sorrow over the Khairpur tragedy. He also conveyed his condolences over a separate incident in Larkana, where three children reportedly drowned.
The chief minister directed the deputy commissioners of Khairpur and Larkana to ensure all possible assistance and support is provided to the bereaved families.
