Fawad Khan and Iqra Aziz’s reported casting in a new Pakistani feature film has triggered mixed reactions online, with many fans questioning their on-screen pairing and age difference.
Pakistani stars Fawad Khan and Iqra Aziz are reportedly set to share the screen in an upcoming feature film, but news of their casting has already ignited a lively debate across social media.
According to multiple entertainment reports, the actors have been paired opposite each other in a Sindh government-funded film that will be produced by Maida Azmat and directed by Murtaza Chaudhry. Plot details and an official release date have yet to be announced.
The project will also reunite the two stars after they were cast in Netflix’s upcoming original series Jo Bachay Hain Sang Samait Lo, one of Pakistan’s most anticipated international productions.
While many fans welcomed the collaboration between two of the country’s biggest stars, others expressed reservations about the pairing, particularly highlighting what they described as a noticeable age difference between the actors.
Several users on X, Instagram and Facebook argued that the duo may not appear convincing as a romantic couple. Some commented that the pairing resembled a “father-daughter” dynamic, while others suggested that Iqra Aziz’s petite frame could make the on-screen chemistry less believable.
A number of fans also said they hoped the film would not revolve around a romantic storyline, suggesting the casting could work better if the characters shared a different relationship. Others proposed actresses such as Maya Ali or Saba Qamar as alternative casting choices alongside Fawad Khan.
Despite the criticism, many fans defended the actors, arguing that chemistry depends on performances, direction and storytelling rather than age alone. Supporters also urged audiences to reserve judgment until the film’s first look or trailer is released.
Fawad Khan remains one of Pakistan’s most celebrated actors, known for hit dramas including Humsafar, Zindagi Gulzar Hai, Dastaan and Akbari Asghari. He has also built a successful career in films at home and internationally.
Iqra Aziz, meanwhile, has earned widespread acclaim for her performances in Suno Chanda, Ranjha Ranjha Kardi, Khuda Aur Muhabbat 3, Raqeeb Se, and Mannat Murad, establishing herself as one of the country’s leading television stars.
