A shocking murder case in Jaipur has taken an even darker turn after the family of a 23-year-old woman accused of plotting her mother’s murder alleged that she may also have been involved in her father’s mysterious death last year.
Ayushi Sharma, who is currently in judicial custody, was arrested for allegedly paying ₹7 lakh to hired killers to stage her widowed mother’s murder as a high-speed road accident.
Police allege the SUV used in the attack struck the victim at nearly 130 km/h, in what investigators believe was a carefully planned hit-and-run.
Now, Ayushi’s maternal uncle has formally sought a police investigation into the 2025 death of her father, Vijay Sharma, claiming the circumstances surrounding his death were suspicious and may have been part of a larger conspiracy.
According to the complaint, investigators should determine whether the father’s death was natural or whether it was linked to an alleged plot to gain financial benefits, including government employment offered on compassionate grounds after his death.
Police are examining the complaint and reviewing available evidence to determine whether there are sufficient grounds to reopen or further investigate the father’s death. Authorities have not announced any charges against Ayushi in connection with that case.
Investigators allege the motive behind the attack on her mother was to gain control of family property worth crores of rupees and secure employment benefits linked to her father’s death.
The case has stunned India, with investigators now examining whether the alleged conspiracy extended beyond the murder-for-hire case already under investigation.
Police have urged the public to avoid speculation as the inquiry continues, stressing that the latest allegations remain under investigation and have not yet been proven in court.
