As soaring temperatures continue to grip the Middle East and other parts of the world, Dubai Police has issued a public safety advisory warning motorists about the increased risk of vehicle fires during extreme heat.
Authorities said that even minor negligence can lead to serious incidents when temperatures are exceptionally high. According to Dubai Police, common causes of car fires in summer include faulty electrical wiring, fuel or oil leaks, poor vehicle maintenance, damaged batteries, engine overheating, and leaving flammable or pressurized items inside parked vehicles.
Officials specifically warned against keeping lighters, power banks, aerosol spray cans, gas cylinders, and other pressurized containers inside vehicles, as intense heat can cause them to ignite or explode.
Drivers have been advised to service their vehicles regularly, inspect electrical systems, monitor engine oil, coolant, and battery condition, and avoid storing any flammable materials inside their cars.
Dubai Police also recommended keeping a certified fire extinguisher in every vehicle and ensuring it is within its validity period. If smoke or a burning smell is detected, motorists should immediately stop the vehicle in a safe location, switch off the engine, evacuate if necessary, and contact emergency services without delay.
The police emphasized that taking simple preventive measures during the summer months can protect both lives and property, urging motorists to inspect their vehicles before every journey and address any mechanical issues promptly.
