WhatsApp is preparing to launch new features for Android users that could significantly improve the way people interact with the app. The upcoming additions focus on making communication faster and more convenient by allowing users to access key functions directly from their device’s home screen.
According to WABetaInfo, WhatsApp is currently working on a new home-screen widget that will enable users to record and send voice messages without opening the application. Once a voice note is recorded, users will be able to choose a contact and send the message instantly. The feature is designed to simplify the process of sharing voice messages and reduce the number of steps required to communicate.
In addition to the voice messaging widget, WhatsApp has also started testing another widget in the Android beta version 2.26.18.5. This widget will display recent status updates shared by contacts directly on the home screen, allowing users to stay updated without launching the app.
The status widget is expected to include a shortcut for creating and sharing status updates as well. WhatsApp’s intelligent ranking system will reportedly highlight contacts with whom users interact most frequently, ensuring that the most relevant updates appear first.
These features are currently being tested and are not yet available to all users. However, they reflect WhatsApp’s continued efforts to enhance user experience and make communication more efficient on Android devices.
