U.S. President Donald Trump has said that negotiations with Iran have reached their final stage and that a formal agreement could be signed soon, possibly by the end of the week in Europe. Speaking to reporters, Trump claimed the planned U.S. military action against Iran had been halted in favor of a diplomatic settlement.
Trump stated that senior-level documents for the Iran agreement are nearly complete and suggested that the Iranian leadership, including the Supreme Leader, is on board with the deal. He also said the agreement would ensure Iran does not develop nuclear weapons.
The former president further claimed that, once the agreement is signed, the Strait of Hormuz would be reopened, adding that the entire Middle East would welcome the development. He also said U.S. officials, including JD Vance, are expected to attend the signing ceremony.
Praising regional diplomacy, Trump highlighted Pakistan’s role in the process, calling the country’s leadership and military figures “remarkable” and saying Islamabad has contributed positively to efforts toward stability in the region.
