ISLAMABAD: The Annual Planning Coordination Committee (APCC) is scheduled to meet today (Monday) to finalize recommendations for Pakistan’s federal development budget and annual economic plan for the fiscal year 2026-27, ahead of the upcoming federal budget.
According to official sources, the committee will review proposals for next year’s development budget while assessing the utilization and performance of the current fiscal year’s development spending. Development allocations for all federal ministries and divisions will be examined in detail during the session.
Representatives from the Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Commerce, and the State Bank of Pakistan are expected to present their assessments and policy recommendations. The meeting will also include presentations on development plans prepared by provincial governments and special areas.
Sources said the Ministry of Finance has proposed a ceiling of Rs1,126 billion for the federal Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) for FY2026-27. Alongside the federal PSDP, provinces will implement their own annual development programmes.
The APCC is also expected to formulate recommendations for the national economic plan and set key macroeconomic targets for the upcoming fiscal year. Sources indicated that the economic growth target could be fixed at 4 percent or higher.
In addition, the committee will discuss growth targets for the agriculture, industrial, and services sectors, which remain critical drivers of Pakistan’s economy.
The meeting will further deliberate on inflation projections for FY2026-27, with sources suggesting that the average inflation target may be set between 8.2 percent and 8.6 percent.
Following consultations with relevant ministries, departments, and provincial governments, the APCC will finalize its recommendations and forward them to the National Economic Council (NEC) for final approval. The recommendations are expected to play a key role in shaping Pakistan’s development priorities and economic strategy for the next fiscal year.
