A brutal incident in Rawalpindi’s Dhamiyal area has shocked residents after a young man was killed and his body allegedly dragged through streets tied to a motorbike, in what police describe as part of a revenge-linked cycle of violence that also left another man dead.
According to Rawalpindi police, Zain Shah was killed on Friday in Dhamiyal. Authorities confirmed that his body was later dragged through local streets, an act that has intensified public outrage and prompted the provincial police chief to order the immediate arrest of the suspects.
Investigators say the violence appears to be connected to an earlier killing on the same day, when associates of Zain Shah allegedly opened fire and killed a shopkeeper, Siraaj Mehsud.
Police stated that the murder of Siraaj Mehsud is believed to have triggered retaliation. In response, Zain Shah was reportedly abducted by motorbike, taken to an undisclosed location, and subjected to severe torture before being killed. His body was then allegedly desecrated.
Authorities have confirmed that a post-mortem report has been handed over to the investigating team to assist in the ongoing inquiry.
Meanwhile, relatives of the suspects have accused police of conducting raids on their homes and detaining women, allegations that authorities have yet to formally address.
Police say operations are underway to trace and arrest those involved in both killings.
