Police in Kasur district have arrested a suspect in the alleged sexual assault of a 4-year-old girl, who was found severely injured and abandoned near Rohi Nullah in the Mustafabad area.
According to police, the minor girl was discovered in a critical condition late Tuesday night, with bloodstained clothes and visible wounds, prompting immediate transfer to Baba Bulleh Shah Hospital in Kasur for initial treatment.
Due to her serious injuries, she was later referred to Lahore General Hospital (LGH), where medical experts confirmed signs of sexual violence. Doctors, including MS Prof. Faryad Hussain, stated that the child is now out of danger following treatment and is under the care of gynecologists. A nine-member medical board has been formed to oversee her recovery.
An FIR was initially registered at Mustafa Abad police station on the complaint of SHO Hafiz Tasadduq Hussain against unknown persons under relevant sections, including provisions for sexual assault. Authorities launched a search for the girl’s family by issuing public announcements, mosque loudspeakers, and advertisements, describing her as an abandoned (lawaris) child at the time of discovery.
Sub-Inspector Ashfaq Ahmed told reporters that the suspect has now been apprehended, and the girl’s family members have also been identified. He confirmed that samples have been sent to the Punjab Forensic Science Agency laboratory for DNA testing to strengthen the case.
A special investigation team, led by SP Investigation, was formed on the directives of DPO Kasur Muhammad Isa Khan Sukhera, who personally visited the hospital to inquire about the child’s condition. Female police officers have been deployed for her protection and care. CCTV footage from the area is being reviewed as part of the ongoing probe.
Punjab’s Provincial Law Minister Rana Muhammad Iqbal Khan took immediate notice of the incident, directing hospital administration to provide the best possible treatment and calling for a report from the DPO Kasur.
He strongly condemned the crime, stating that such “monsters” deserve no leniency and must face exemplary punishment under the law. “Those who commit such atrocities against innocent children are enemies of humanity,” he added, emphasizing full protection for the victim and swift justice.
The case has once again highlighted concerns over child safety in the region, drawing parallels to Kasur’s troubling history of similar incidents. Police have appealed to the public for any further information that could aid the investigation.
