Islamabad, January 20, 2026 – Sazgar Engineering Works Limited has officially launched the locally assembled GWM Tank 500 in both Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV) and Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) variants today. This launch represents a major milestone in Pakistan’s automotive industry, bringing advanced hybrid technology closer to local consumers.
The GWM Tank 500 is a full-size, seven-seater SUV renowned for its bold design, off-road capability, and modern hybrid powertrain options. Previously available as imported units, local assembly is expected to reduce prices, improve spare parts availability, and strengthen after-sales support.
The HEV combines a petrol engine with an electric motor to enhance fuel efficiency, while the PHEV offers a larger battery that can be charged externally, allowing short distances of pure electric driving before switching to hybrid mode.
Sazgar will begin bookings for the Tank 500 HEV and PHEV from January 26, 2026, with pricing details to be announced soon. The company’s local assembly initiative aligns with Pakistan’s New Energy Vehicle (NEV) policy, aiming to promote sustainable and technologically advanced vehicles in the country.
