Germany has taken a major digital step by launching a brand-new online visa system for Pakistani applicants. The German Consulate General announced that student and employment visa categories will now be shifted to the Consular Services Portal, making the entire process faster, smoother, and more transparent.
The move is designed to cut down long waiting times and increase the number of visas processed every year. With this shift, all previous waiting lists have been officially closed and will soon be removed from the system. However, applicants who already received their appointment dates can still attend them under the old process—no changes needed.
Starting December 12, 2025, all new applicants will begin their visa process online. This update applies to multiple long-term visa categories, including employment, training, jobseeker, and student visas.
Student visa applicants can now submit their application through the dedicated portal at digital.diplo.de/studium, while those applying for work-related visas can submit through digital.diplo.de/visa-ewt. Both portals are built to simplify documentation and help users avoid unnecessary delays that were common in the previous manual system.
Germany’s shift toward a fully digital visa experience reflects its efforts to modernize and create a user-friendly application environment for international candidates—especially for the large number of Pakistani students and professionals seeking opportunities abroad. A digital system means quicker processing, fewer errors, and a more efficient way to manage thousands of applications each year.
This update from the German Consulate is particularly significant for Pakistanis planning to study or work in Europe, as Germany remains one of the top destinations for higher education, skilled employment, and career growth. With the new system, applicants can complete most steps online, track their progress, and avoid long queues at visa centers.
The streamlined digital transformation is expected to reduce processing time, improve transparency, and make the visa experience far more convenient than before. For Pakistanis aiming to start their educational or professional journey in Germany, this new online portal is a welcome and timely upgrade.
