Asian Cricket Council (ACC) President Mohsin Naqvi has officially responded to the Board of Control for Cricket in India’s (BCCI) letter regarding the Asia Cup trophy dispute. Earlier, the BCCI had written to Naqvi, requesting the handover of the trophy their team won earlier this year.
In his response, Naqvi stated that if India wants the trophy, a proper presentation ceremony can be arranged. Reports revealed that the ACC informed the Indian board that the trophy can be handed over in the first week of November. The council has proposed to hold the ceremony in Dubai during that time.
Naqvi further clarified that a BCCI official can attend the event along with one player to receive the trophy. The Asia Cup trophy dispute began after the Indian team did not collect the trophy from Naqvi following their win in the final.
After the incident, Naqvi returned the trophy to the ACC office. He remarked that if the Indian captain wanted it, he could visit his office to collect it personally. This led to an exchange of letters between the BCCI and ACC, drawing attention from cricket fans across Asia.
The issue is expected to be settled soon as both sides prepare for the proposed ceremony in Dubai. The situation highlights the importance of coordination between cricket boards in maintaining sportsmanship and respect within regional tournaments.
