Pakistan UAE defense ties were highlighted on Monday when President Asif Ali Zardari awarded the Nishan-e-Imtiaz (Military) to UAE Naval Chief Major General Humaid Abdulla Alremeithi. The ceremony took place in Islamabad and recognized his services in strengthening cooperation between the two nations.
The president praised the UAE commander for his professional achievements and said the award reflected the deep brotherly bond shared by Pakistan and the UAE. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to further boost cooperation in defense, trade, and cultural relations.
Both countries enjoy close military collaboration. The UAE Navy has taken part in Aman-25 exercises alongside Pakistan Navy earlier this year. President Zardari assured that Pakistan would continue to support the UAE in training and manpower requirements.
Maj. Gen. Alremeithi expressed gratitude and recalled his years of training at the Pakistan Naval Academy in Karachi. He said the UAE was eager to expand joint naval and air exercises, which would improve operational readiness and interoperability.
The UAE naval chief also met Pakistan’s Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff General Sahir Shamshad Mirza and Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu. They discussed regional security challenges and opportunities for greater cooperation. The UAE expressed interest in learning from the combat-tested experience of the Pakistan Air Force.
The strengthening of Pakistan UAE defense ties reflects shared goals for regional stability and security. Leaders from both sides agreed to pursue more joint initiatives that will enhance long-term military-to-military relations.
