IMRAN MALIK – Veteran journalist Sohail Warraich, famously known for the immortal line “Kya yeh khula tazad nahin?”, seems to have created a brand-new contradiction of his own. A few days ago, he narrated a dramatic story about meeting a certain “Field Marshal” in Brussels, advising Imran Khan to simply say sorry from the heart so that peace could prevail. The tale was spicy enough to keep drawing room debates alive for days—until reality checked in.
Today, ISPR finally broke its silence and firmly labeled the Warraich story as nothing more than fiction. According to DG ISPR Lt. Gen. Ahmed Sharif, “Field Marshal Asim Munir never gave any interview to any journalist in Brussels. The narrative about reconciliation with PTI is fabricated.”
The military’s spokesperson went further:
“An apology won’t stop legal proceedings.”
“Those involved in May 9 must apologize, not invent bedtime stories.”
“No mention of PTI or forgiveness was ever made in Brussels.”
“This was simply an attempt by a journalist to gain publicity.”
Social media, meanwhile, had a field day. Some compared Warraich’s version to a Netflix political drama; others suggested he might as well start writing novels titled “50 Shades of Khula Tazad.”
The question now being asked—louder than Warraich’s famous catchphrase—is whether his employer groups Geo and Jang might also face legal action. After all, if truth is the first casualty in war, then satire might just be the second.
And as for Warraich—well, he can always claim his story was “metaphorical.” Isn’t that the ultimate khula tazad?
