Pakistan Champions team owner Kamil Khan has confirmed that his team will return to the next World Championship of Legends (WCL) season, even though the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has barred Pakistani players from participating in future editions.
After losing the final against South Africa Champions, Kamil praised his team’s efforts and said one defeat cannot define their future. “Just like the first season, Pakistan Champions performed well this time too. Losing one final doesn’t mean the team is finished. We will definitely come back,” he said.
Kamil clarified that Pakistan Champions is independently owned and has no control from PCB. “This is my own privately owned team. PCB does not own it. Private leagues are common worldwide, and we have every right to represent Pakistan’s name with pride,” he stated.
He added that their participation was fully approved by PCB earlier. “We took NOCs from PCB for all players. Chairman Mohsin Naqvi even supported and helped us. There was no issue before or after the event,” Kamil said.
The PCB had earlier criticized WCL for “political interference” and announced it would not allow Pakistani players in such tournaments. However, Kamil remains confident about the team’s future. “As long as we don’t win, we’ll keep coming back. We reached the final this time; next time, we’ll return to win,” he said.
Despite the board’s ban, Kamil Khan insists that Pakistan Champions will continue to play in WCL, keeping the team’s name and spirit alive.
