In the latest Henley Passport Index 2025, Pakistan’s passport ranks 96th, making it the fourth weakest passport in the world only ahead of Syria, Iraq, and Afghanistan. The index, published by UK-based Henley & Partners using IATA data, is one of the most trusted rankings of passport strength worldwide. Despite minor improvements in past years,Pakistan still lags far behind its regional peers like India (77th, with access to 62 countries) and the Philippines (74th, 67 destinations).
On the other hand, the UAE made headlines by breaking into the top 10 globally for the first time. Ranked 8th, the Emirati passport now provides visa-free access to 183 destinations, thanks to smart diplomacy and new agreements, including with China.
Pakistan’s interior ministry has acknowledged the growing concerns from its business community and promised efforts to negotiate more visa-free deals.
At the top of the index, Singapore holds the world’s most powerful passport, allowing access to 193 destinations without a prior visa. It’s followed by Japan, South Korea, and several EU countries.
