Since June 26, heavy rains and flash floods have caused serious damage across Pakistan. According to the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), 234 people have lost their lives and 596 have been injured. The floods have also destroyed 826 homes and killed 203 animals.
The NDMA has carried out 62 rescue operations, saving 450 people from dangerous flood-hit areas. To help affected communities, they’ve given out 3,349 relief items, including tents, blankets, and kitchen sets, and have set up 27 relief and medical camps.
The NDMA is working with local and provincial authorities to keep rescue and relief efforts going. The disaster has tested the strength of people across the country, and support continues for those in need.
The most deaths have been reported in Punjab, with 135 lives lost — 48 men, 24 women, and 63 children. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa saw 56 deaths, including 30 children. Sindh recorded 24 deaths, while Balochistan had 16. Two deaths were reported in Azad Jammu and Kashmir and one child died in Islamabad. Gilgit-Baltistan reported no loss of life.
As for injuries, Punjab again had the highest number — 470 people hurt. Injuries in other regions include 71 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 40 in Sindh, 4 in Balochistan, 8 in AJK, and 3 in Gilgit-Baltistan.
The NDMA continues to monitor the situation and is providing ongoing relief to affected areas. Floods remain a serious threat, and authorities urge people to stay alert and follow safety advice.
