New York/New Jersey — Torrential rains and sudden flash floods have wreaked havoc across New York and New Jersey, prompting authorities to declare a state of emergency in New Jersey late Monday night.
The New Jersey Office of Emergency Management urged residents to stay indoors as several counties witnessed dangerous flood levels, road closures, and power outages.

Several NYC subway stations faced partial shutdowns, especially in lower Manhattan and Brooklyn, due to water intrusion on tracks. MTA crews are working around the clock to pump out water, but service remains disrupted on multiple lines.

NJ Transit services have been heavily affected, with multiple rail and bus lines either suspended or operating with significant delays. Passengers are advised to check real-time updates before travel.
How Long Will the Rains Last?
The National Weather Service forecasts that heavy rains will continue through Wednesday, with the risk of further flash flooding in already saturated areas.
