Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) President Mohsen Gilani met top officials from FIFA and the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) during the 2025 FIFA Executive Summit in Miami, focusing on international backing for Pakistan’s football development.
In a key meeting, FIFA Secretary General Mattias Grafström pledged full support for rebuilding Pakistan’s football system. He assured assistance in both infrastructure and technical development, including coaching, capacity building, and organizational growth.
Gilani also met Arsène Wenger, FIFA’s Chief of Global Football Development. While details were not made public, discussions centered on grassroots and youth development—Wenger’s area of global focus.
On the regional front, AFC President Shaikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa reaffirmed AFC’s ongoing support, particularly in talent development and restructuring domestic competitions.
Gilani also held discussions with football officials from Sri Lanka and Bhutan, including FFSL President Jaswar Umar and BFF General Secretary Ugyen Wangchuk, to strengthen regional ties.
These meetings mark a major step in Pakistan Football Federation’s global engagement efforts as it looks to rebuild the sport after years of disruption, including bans and administrative crises. With international support secured, the next step is turning promises into real progress on the ground in Pakistan.
