Pakistan’s Sesamum Seeds Exports to China Surge 68% in January-February

Pakistan’s Sesamum Seeds Exports to China Exceed $10.10 Million in Jan-Feb 2024, Marking a 68.11% Growth.

Ghulam Qadir, the Investment and Trade Counsellor at the Pakistani Embassy in Beijing, revealed that according to the General Administration of Customs of China, Pakistan’s export of sesamum seeds to China reached 5997.744 tons valued at $10.10 million in the first two months of 2024, reflecting a significant increase of 68.11% compared to the same period last year, which stood at $6 million.

Furthermore, Qadir highlighted that in 2023,China imported 166682.987 tons of sesamum seeds from Pakistan, amounting to $290.66 million, representing a notable surge of 96.13% in volume compared to the previous year’s 84985.321 tons valued at $128.44 million.

Commenting on this development, Muhammad Amir, a sesamum seeds exporter, emphasized that this upward trend in agricultural exports underscores Pakistan’s dedication to diversifying its trade avenues and penetrating new markets. He noted that the growing demand for sesamum seeds from China contributes significantly to Pakistan’s agricultural sector and fosters enhanced economic collaboration between the two nations.

Amir further emphasized the importance of providing Pakistani farmers with incentives to bolster agricultural exports, including innovative methods, accessible technologies, high-yield seeds, and training opportunities.

The data reveals a steady increase in Pakistan’s sesamum seeds exports to China, amounting to $290.66 million in 2023, $128.44 million in 2022, and $120.44 million in 2021.
