Punjab Food Authority officials seized and destroyed 3,000kg of fungus-contaminated and expired ice cream from a well-known brand’s store in Shahdara. The company’s distribution was suspended and a Rs10 million fine was imposed for violating food safety regulations.
Punjab Food Authority officials, led by Special Assistant to the Chief Minister Salma Butt and Director General Raja Mansoor Ahmed, conducted an operation in Shahdara and seized 3,000 kilograms of fungus-contaminated ice cream from a store of a well-known ice cream brand.
According to the Food Authority, expired ice cream was found stored alongside fresh stock. The seized products had reportedly expired in November last year and were allegedly being prepared for distribution to different cities. The entire 3,000kg stock was confiscated and destroyed.
Following the operation, the distribution of the ice cream brand was also suspended, while the company was fined Rs10 million for violating food safety regulations. Officials said storing expired products with fresh stock is a serious violation and vowed to continue strict action to ensure the supply of safe and quality food to citizens.
