Pakistan’s famous content creator and YouTuber, Aun Ali Khosa, who was reportedly abducted on August 15, has returned home safely, his counsel confirmed on Monday.
The Lahore High Court (LHC) had previously directed the Lahore police to produce Khosa fit and healthy by August 20 in a petition moved by his wife, Binish Iqbal. She had expressed concerns about her husband, stating that he was in the unlawful and illegal custody of the police force and had gone missing.
The popular content creator, who has 137k subscribers on YouTube now, was allegedly kidnapped from his flat at dawn on August 15. As stated in the petition, about 10 police officers, accompanied by men not in uniform, barged into Khosa’s house and took his phone, laptop, computer system, and digital camera from him.
The Human Rights Commission of Pakistan questioned the legality of the YouTuber’s abduction. The HRCP had demanded his safe and immediate return.
A day later, at around 01.00 AM on Monday, Khadija Siddiqi, Khosa’s lawyer in tweet stated that the content creator had been released and had reached home.
Another lawyer of Khosa, Mian Ali Ashfaq, also said that Khosa had safely returned honed and that he had discussed the matter with him. ‘Thank you, Siddiqi, for being an exception, supporting and representing me. Alhamdulillah he is courageous, safe, and determined,’ Ashfaq.
In another tweet, Ms Siddiqi expressed her anger over the pattern, stating that they had handled several cases of missing persons at the LHC over the past two months, including Khosa’s.
She shared an unfortunate trend in these kidnappings where, black-faced, armed men storm a house at night, take personal property, and abuse the captives before relinquishing them after court influence.
