The monsoon season continues across multiple regions of Pakistan, with forecasts predicting an increase in rainfall over the coming days. According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), a low-pressure system currently persists over northwestern Madhya Pradesh, India, and is likely to move west and northwest in the next few hours. Meanwhile, western winds remain active over Pakistan’s northern regions.
While much of the country experienced heat and humidity yesterday, regions like southern Punjab, Kashmir, and parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa saw thunderstorms with rain, while southeastern Balochistan and Sindh received heavy rainfall.
Today, strong winds and thunderstorms with rain are expected in Sindh, Punjab, Kashmir, northeastern Balochistan, northern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Islamabad. Heavy downpours are specifically expected in southern Sindh, eastern Balochistan, and Kashmir. Elsewhere, hot and humid conditions will likely persist.

By tomorrow, similar weather patterns are expected in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, upper and central Punjab, northeastern Balochistan, and Islamabad, with the possibility of heavy rain in Kashmir, northern KP, and northeastern Punjab.
On July 22, widespread rainfall and strong winds are expected in Kashmir, KP, Gilgit-Baltistan, upper and central Punjab, and Islamabad. Some showers are also likely in southeastern Sindh and southern Punjab, while other areas will remain hot.
The PMD has also forecast rain for Wednesday in Islamabad, KP, and upper and central Punjab, with the Potohar region expected to receive particularly heavy rain.
The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has urged the public to avoid unnecessary travel and remain cautious, especially in vulnerable areas.
For Thursday, rain with strong winds is predicted in upper and central Punjab, KP, northeastern Balochistan, and Islamabad. Some areas in southeastern Sindh may also see thunderstorms.
On Friday, Gilgit-Baltistan, Karachi, parts of KP, and upper Punjab are expected to experience rainfall, with the Potohar region again at risk of heavy downpours.
Flood and Landslide Alerts in Pakistan
The NDMA has issued warnings for potential flooding in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa till July 25, especially in rivers like the Kabul, Swat, Panjkora, Kalpani, and Bara streams. Areas including Nowshera, Malakand, Swat, Dir, and northern mountainous regions face risks of floods and landslides.
Moreover, Islamabad and Punjab cities like Rawalpindi, Lahore, Sialkot, Faisalabad, Multan, Khanewal, Sahiwal, Muzaffargarh, Kot Addu, Taunsa, Rajanpur, Bahawalpur, and Rahim Yar Khan are expected to receive heavy rainfall, with flood risks in urban and low-lying areas.
The NDMA continues to advise citizens to stay alert and avoid non-essential travel in the coming days.
