Heavy Rains Lash Pakistan: NDMA Issues Travel Alert, Flash Flood Warnings Across Multiple Regions
Islamabad – July 3, 2025 — As monsoon systems intensify across the region, widespread rainfall is being reported in various parts of Pakistan, with forecasts predicting more heavy downpours over the coming days. The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued a nationwide travel alert, warning citizens of possible urban flooding, landslides, and flash floods in vulnerable areas.
Rain Forecast Overview:
- Punjab: Lahore, Rawalpindi, and surrounding areas are expected to receive heavy to very heavy rainfall over the next 48 hours. Low-lying areas may experience waterlogging.
- Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: Swat, Dir, and Mansehra districts are at high risk of landslides and flash flooding in hilly terrains.
- Sindh: Karachi, Hyderabad, and interior Sindh may face moderate to heavy showers with potential for urban flooding, especially in poorly drained neighborhoods.
- Balochistan: Quetta and surrounding regions are under flash flood alerts, with the Met Office urging extreme caution.
- Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan: Continuous rainfall may cause landslides and road blockages, especially in mountainous zones.

NDMA Travel and Safety Guidelines:
