Prime Video has given the green light for a 10-episode third season of the immensely popular series, The Summer I Turned Pretty. Based on Jenny Han’s best-selling book trilogy, the Prime Video drama has garnered a massive following, especially among young women viewers.
Season Two of the show has become one of the top 10 most-watched seasons on the platform, with its premiere on July 14 doubling the viewership of Season One within three days.
The upcoming Season Three of The Summer I Turned Pretty will be exclusively available on Prime Video in over 240 countries and territories worldwide. As an Amazon Original series, it is an integral part of the entertainment offerings enjoyed by Prime members.
Vernon Sanders, head of television at Amazon and MGM Studios, expressed delight over the passionate reception from fans and praised the series’ broad appeal to a diverse audience.
Jenny Han, the gifted storyteller behind the series, has been eagerly awaited by her fans for the continuation of the story. The announcement was made in collaboration with Sarah Kucserka and Karen Rosenfelt, along with wiip, who played a significant role in the show’s success.
Production for Season Three will commence after resolving labor negotiations with the Writers Guild of America (WGA) and SAG-AFTRA unions. The showrunners for Season Three will be Jenny Han and Sarah Kucserka, and they, along with Karen Rosenfelt, will serve as executive producers.
The Summer I Turned Pretty, a co-production of Amazon Studios and wiip, is a multigenerational drama revolving around a love triangle, the bond between mothers and their children, and the enduring strength of female friendship.
