Pakistan lost the first Test in the Bangladesh series on Sunday August 25 in a very embarrassing loss.
Despite their declaration in the first innings, Pakistan failed to capitalize on the conditions and ultimately lost by 10 wickets to Najmul Shanto’s team. That was Pakistan’s first test defeat to Bangladesh.
The experienced cricketers, such as Babar Azam, Shan Masood, and Shaheen Afridi, faced criticism on social networking sites for their subpar showing in both batting and bowling.
Pakistan received backlash for exclusively relying on fast bowlers as Bangladesh’s spinners Shakib Al Hasan and Mehidy Hasan Miraz took 7 wickets in the second innings, securing a victory for Bangladesh.
Pakistan has a history of frequently changing captains, so fans on social media were speculating as to whether or not there were any conflicts within the team.
While watching the Test match, observers noted a moment when they saw Shaheen Shah Afridi brushing Shan Masood’s hand off his shoulder. The video didn’t come out until after the Test match on Sunday, August 25, and then it just exploded all over social media.
The Pakistan cricket team has been so volatile lately. Oh well, change of captains since they played like shit in the 2023 ODI World Cup. Following the India tour, Babar Azam resigned as captain in all formats and Shan Masood took over tests and Shaheen Shah Afridi took over white ball formats.
After leading one series as captain against New Zealand, Shaheen was removed from his position and Babar was made captain again for white-ball matches. Babar led Pakistan in the T20 World Cup 2024.
Pakistan should have done better in this series since it was their home series and everyone thought that since the series was in Rawalpindi the pitch would support the fast bowlers but it didn’t.
Pakistan captain Shan Masood admitted in his post match interview that his team had made many mistakes throughout the first Test. He acknowledged that their interpretation of the pitch was incorrect and mentioned that they would attempt to rectify their errors in the upcoming second and final game of the series.
