In the annual elections for the Supreme Court Bar Association, preliminary and unofficial results indicate a victory for the Asma Jahangir Group’s presidential candidate, Mian Rauf Atta.
In Lahore, Rauf Atta secured 558 votes, while his opponent from the Hamid Khan Group received 484 votes.
In Multan, Rauf Atta received 125 votes against Hamid Khan Group’s Munir Kakar, who garnered 85 votes, giving Atta a lead of 40 votes.
In Islamabad, over 682 lawyers cast their ballots, with Rauf Atta securing 190 votes and Munir Kakar obtaining 160 votes.
Across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the Asma Jahangir Group achieved a clean sweep, with Rauf Atta winning 127 votes in Peshawar, 21 votes in Bannu, and 25 votes in Dera Ismail Khan.
In Hyderabad, Rauf Atta led with 50 votes, while Munir Kakar from the opposing group came in second with 34 votes.
In Quetta, preliminary results showed Hamid Khan Group’s Munir Kakar in the lead with 119 votes, while Rauf Atta secured 74 votes.
This outcome marks a significant win for the Asma Jahangir Group, signaling a major shift within the legal community.
