Ushna Shah slammed for condolence on Charlie Kirk death after she shared a heartfelt message on Instagram. The actor is facing strong criticism online for expressing sympathy following the killing of American right-wing commentator Charlie Kirk.
Charlie Kirk, 31, was shot dead while speaking at a university event in Utah. He was a controversial figure in US politics and a supporter of former president Donald Trump. Kirk was widely known for his Islamophobic statements and strong anti-Muslim views.
In her Instagram story, Ushna Shah admitted she strongly disagreed with Kirk’s opinions, especially on Palestine. However, she said she was heartbroken to see “a husband, a son, a father of two, be shot in cold blood.” Shah added that the children and families of Palestine would always remain her priority. Still, she felt the brutal murder of Kirk was a reminder of the value of every human life.
Her condolence triggered backlash. Many accused Shah of showing sympathy for someone who spread hate and division. Social media users argued that Charlie Kirk’s words fueled bigotry, so mourning him publicly was insensitive.
Shah later clarified that her words were not meant to excuse Kirk’s politics but to condemn violence. She also shared stories suggesting Kirk himself feared Israel might target him if he opposed its policies.
Meanwhile, leaders across the US condemned the killing. Donald Trump, Joe Biden, and Barack Obama all sent condolences to Kirk’s family. Trump ordered flags lowered to half-mast, calling Kirk a “true patriot.”
Kirk’s final words, caught on livestream moments before his death, were about fighting violence without losing freedom.
