Uber is launching a new feature called ‘Group Rides’ which will allow users in India to share trips and split fares with max 3 people.
Booking a taxi ride can become quite a cumbersome process when you and your friends are headed to the same place. You’re faced with the task of manually entering numerous drop-off points, and coordinating with your friends to pinpoint the exact locations, all while watching the fare escalate.
In an effort to simplify this experience, Uber has introduced a fresh feature named “Group Rides” in India. This innovative feature allows users to pool their journeys with up to three other passengers when traveling to a mutual destination.

Uber India introduced a new feature called Group Rides, which offers an eco-friendly and cost-effective way for friends to travel together.
By sharing rides with up to three other people to a common destination, riders can save up to 30% on their fares.
This initiative also aims to reduce road congestion by having fewer cars on the road when groups travel together.
To use Group Rides, riders can share ride details via a messaging app, and friends can add their pickup locations.
Drivers still earn the same amount based on the route, so they aren’t adversely affected. Nitish Bhushan, Director of Central Operations at Uber India, highlighted the cost savings, convenience, and positive impact of reducing vehicles on the road with this new feature.
