In Pennsylvania, Pakistani-American Republican candidate Aaron Bashir faced defeat against Democratic candidate Brendan Boyle in the congressional district.
In the Texas State Assembly, both Muslim candidates of Pakistani descent emerged victorious. Salman Bhojani, a Democrat, won from Dallas, and Dr. Suleman Lalani, also a Democrat, succeeded from Houston.
In Michigan, Democratic candidate Maryam Saibeh lost the election, while Republican candidate Thomas Cohen won the seat for House District 57, defeating Pakistani-American Democrat Ayesha Farooqi.
