Lahore(MediaBites)- On Wednesday, it was reported that a Turkish Airlines pilot tragically passed away mid-flight, prompting the aircraft to make an emergency landing in New York.
According to a statement from the airline, the incident occurred after the plane departed from Seattle, a city on the western coast of the United States, on Tuesday evening.
The airline’s spokesperson, Yahya Ustun, shared the news on X (formerly Twitter), stating: “The captain of our Airbus A350, operating flight TK204 from Seattle to Istanbul, suddenly collapsed during the flight.”
“Despite efforts to administer first aid, the flight crew, consisting of another pilot and a co-pilot, made the decision to initiate an emergency landing. Unfortunately, he passed away before the aircraft could land.”
Ustun also mentioned that the 59-year-old pilot, who had been with Turkish Airlines since 2007, had recently undergone a medical examination in March, which did not reveal any health issues.
