Lahore Police have arrested popular TikTok influencer Nadeem Mubarak, popularly known as Nadeem Naniwala, for the crime of affixing a fake number plate on his luxury vehicle.
The arrest was made near the Main Boulevard in Defence when it was found during routine checking that the number plate on Nadeem’s car was fake.
Nadeem, who has 13 million followers on TikTok, reportedly pasted a fake number plate bearing the registration “IK-804” on his car; the number is apparently identical to the prisoner number of PTI founder Imran Khan, who is presently serving time in Adiala Jail. Nadeem was arrested because of this deliberate use of the said number plate, say police.
He admitted that he was driving the car for the last two years with this forged number plate and further probing revealed that the car had not been registered since 2022.
Defence Police arrested Nadeem, took him to the police station for further questioning and a case has been registered against him on the complaint of ASI Khalid Mehmood.
This is the second case of legal trouble for Nadeem Naniwala. Earlier this month, Nadeem, along with his accomplices, was arrested for kidnapping a popular YouTuber, Ahmed Ali. Nadeem is known on social media for flaunting his wealth, often seen in videos driving expensive cars and boasting about sharing iPhones with his followers.
The incident has incurred fervent debates through social media. Most of the users were against the arrest as they made fun at the event, particularly the fans of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf. Some users stated that Nadeem had paid money for the number plate, and it is legal, while the police claim it is not.
