A devastating accident on Interstate 85 in Greenville County, South Carolina, has claimed the lives of three South Asian women from Gujarat, India. The tragic incident occurred when their vehicle, travelling at an excessive speed, lost control, collided with a divider, and soared 20 feet into the air before crashing into trees on the opposite side of a bridge.
The victims, South Asian women have been identified as Rekhaben Dilipbhai Patel, Sangeetaben Bhaveshbhai Patel, and Manishaben Rajendrabhai Patel, all hailing from Borsad tehsil of Anand district indian in Gujarat. The wreckage of the vehicle was discovered wedged against a tree, shattered into multiple pieces.
Chief Deputy Coroner Mike Ellis from the Greenville County Coroner’s Office described the harrowing scene, noting that the vehicle had propelled over four lanes of traffic and struck trees at a considerable height above the ground. The impact of the crash was catastrophic, resulting in the tragic loss of three lives.
The driver of the vehicle sustained injuries and was transported to the hospital for treatment. According to Ellis, the SUV was travelling at a speed significantly above the posted limit, leading to the fatal accident.
He emphasized that incidents of this nature, where a vehicle catapults across multiple lanes of traffic and collides with trees, are exceptionally rare and indicative of extreme speed.

Investigations into the accident have revealed that no other vehicles were involved, highlighting the sole responsibility of the overspeeding SUV for the devastating outcome.
