Apple’s highly anticipated foldable iPhone is finally on its way. After years of rumors and leaks the device is expected to be launched in the fall of 2026. The foldable iPhone is said to feature a 12-inch inner screen and a dual rear camera setup. The phone’s design is expected to be similar to the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 with a book-style folding mechanism.
The device is expected to be 9.2mm thick when folded and 4.6mm thick when unfolded. The screen is said to be supplied by Samsung and the company is reportedly developing UTG Lens technology exclusively for Apple. The hinge is designed by Apple and sourced from Taiwan-based companies.
The foldable iPhone is expected to feature an aluminum alloy middle frame and a dual rear camera setup comprising a main camera and an ultra-wide-angle sensor. The battery capacity is expected to be around 5000mAh with a 3D stacked cell exclusively developed by ATL.
Apple is reportedly planning to sell around 8-10 million units of the foldable iPhone in 2026 and 20 million units in 2027. Foxconn is expected to be the OEM for the device next year with Luxshare possibly joining in 2027. The launch of the foldable iPhone is highly anticipated and it will be interesting to see how it competes with other foldable devices in the market.
