A video of a girl walking around in a bra and panties at a university in Tehran, Iran’s capital, has gone viral on social media. According to reports, the incident took place on Saturday at the University of Science and Research in Tehran, where a young woman was seen dressed only in her undergarments. The video shows her wandering around the university campus, occasionally sitting on the stairs, after which authorities detained her.
Various videos circulating on social media show university security guards detaining the girl. In one video, security personnel from the Islamic Azad University are seen arresting her, which has stirred curiosity and a range of reactions from the public.
Commenting on the incident, the university spokesperson, Amir Mahboub, stated on the social media platform ‘X’ that the police and medical team confirmed the girl was suffering from severe mental stress and that her mental state was unstable. However, some social media users believe that her actions were deliberate and a form of protest against the country’s strict dress code regulations.
The Hamshahri daily reported, citing an informed source, that the girl is dealing with serious mental health issues, and following further investigations, she may possibly be transferred to a psychiatric hospital for treatment.
