Pakistan’s aviation industry welcomed a new player with the official launch of South Air domestic airline on Monday. The airline aims to improve regional connectivity and make domestic travel more affordable for all citizens.
Chairman Senate Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani called the launch a “historic step” for the country. He said the airline will connect smaller cities in South Punjab, interior Sindh, Balochistan, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He stressed that better air links will boost local development and improve access to essential services.
The airline’s first flight will operate from Karachi to Multan. Officials confirmed plans to expand the network to more cities in the near future. Gilani encouraged the airline to keep fares reasonable, saying that even lawmakers find domestic ticket prices high.
