Shershah Khan Gets Bail in a case tied to the May 9, 2023 riots and attack on Jinnah House. An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Lahore granted bail to Shershah, who is the nephew of PTI founder Imran Khan. The court was convinced by his defense that no strong evidence exists against him. And that the prosecution has not filed the official case record yet.
The bail was ordered today by Judge Manzar Ali Gill. Shershah was arrested on August 22, the day after his brother Shahrez’s arrest. Initially remanded in police custody for five days, he was then held under judicial remand for 14 days starting August 28.
His bail was approved on submitting a Rs 100,000 surety bond, and he will be released unless needed for another case.
In the bail hearing, the lawyer emphasized that no evidence had been produced to link Shershah to the violence or riots. Without a filed case record, it’s unclear when or if his trial will even begin.
This development follows the release of his brother Shahrez under similar circumstances. Also granted bail by the Lahore ATC in connection with the Jinnah House incident and May 9 unrest.
