Shastri, commentating alongside Irfan Pathan and Jatin Sapru, remarked, “Shaheen Shah Afridi is not in the league of Wasim Akram. He performs well with the new ball, but beyond that, there’s nothing extraordinary about his abilities. He’s not a standout. We need to face the facts.”

In the highly anticipated clash between Pakistan and arch-rivals India, India secured a comfortable victory, extending their unbeaten World Cup record to 8-0.

India’s resounding victory was the outcome of a commanding all-around performance, led by Captain Rohit Sharma, who set the tone with a dazzling 86-run innings that featured six impressive sixes before being dismissed at short mid-wicket. In contrast, despite a promising start, the Pakistani batting lineup faltered, managing only to post a total of 191 runs to defend.

Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan showed great resilience in what turned out to be the most tense match of the CWC 2023, with over 120,000 fervent Indian supporters in attendance.

At one point, Pakistan reached a strong position at 151-2, but then faced a catastrophic batting collapse, ultimately getting bowled out with a mere additional 40 runs added to their score.

Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul then comfortably completed the chase, surpassing Pakistan’s total of 191 runs in just the 31st over.
