Senior journalist and anchor Kashif Bashir Khan has initiated legal action against Public News by lodging a complaint with PEMRA.
Kashif Bashir Khan alleges that Public News has withheld his salary for eight months, with only 25% of his salary received for two or three of those months. There is now a substantial amount of unpaid salary amounting to lakhs of rupees.
Khan has taken this matter to PEMRA under the provisions of the Pemra Amendment Ordinance 20A.
He insists that Public News must either settle the outstanding salary owed to him in full or potentially face the suspension of government advertisements.
It’s important to note that the PEMRA Amendment Bill became effective on August 15, 2023, following approval by the President of Pakistan.
