A seasoned media, archives and public affairs professional with more than two decades of experience has joined Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto University of Law (SZABUL) as Public Relations Officer (Additional Charge of PRO), bringing with him a strong background in journalism, media management and institutional communication.
In a statement announcing the new role, the officer said he was pleased to begin this new chapter, highlighting over 20 years of experience spanning library sciences, public affairs and archival management within Pakistan’s leading media and academic institutions. His professional journey has been closely aligned with journalism, with a deep understanding of editorial vision, newsroom norms and the evolving values of both television and print media.
As Head of Archive at Dawn News TV, he played a pivotal role in developing archival strategy, managing data storage and supplying licensed video footage to key departments including news production, current affairs, infotainment and documentaries. His responsibilities also included maintaining detailed records of licensed content and ensuring smooth retrieval of footage for editorial use.
Earlier, during his tenure in Public Affairs at Aga Khan University, he managed archival records, photography and video documentation of VVIP events, coordinated campus tours for visitors and actively contributed to organizing major events such as university convocations.
A pioneer member of Dawn News TV, he also planned, designed and established archival facilities in Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad, helping lay the foundation for one of Pakistan’s most structured broadcast archives. Known for strong multitasking abilities, he brings extensive expertise in automation, classification and cataloguing of both conventional and non-conventional materials, and archival systems tailored to newsroom requirements.
In addition to his technical and managerial roles, he has trained media professionals in research, information retrieval and archival usage. He has also written news stories, served as editor of the PLA Newsletter, and was part of the content review committee for talk shows and news bulletins, providing editorial feedback to senior management.
At SZABUL, his appointment is expected to strengthen institutional communication, media relations and public engagement through professional, strategic and well-documented outreach.
