Pakistan–Saudi defence ties reached a new high as Field Marshal Asim Munir was honoured with Saudi Arabia’s top national award following key talks on regional security and strategic cooperation.

Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, has been awarded Saudi Arabia’s highest national honour following a high-level meeting with Prince Khalid bin Salman, marking a major moment in Pakistan–Saudi defense relations.
According to Inter-Services Public Relations, Field Marshal Asim Munir met the Saudi Minister of Defence in the Kingdom, where both sides held detailed discussions on regional security, defence cooperation, and strategic partnership. The meeting reaffirmed the long-standing, brotherly ties between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia and underscored their shared commitment to peace and stability in the region.
During the engagement, the Saudi leadership, under a royal decree, conferred upon Field Marshal Asim Munir the King Abdulaziz Medal of Excellence (Excellent Class) — the Kingdom’s highest civilian honour. The award recognises his outstanding contributions to strengthening defence cooperation and his role in promoting regional peace and security.
Saudi officials praised Field Marshal Munir’s professional excellence, military experience, and strategic vision, while expressing their determination to further deepen defence and security collaboration with Pakistan. The honour was described as a symbol of trust and mutual respect between the two countries’ armed forces.
Field Marshal Asim Munir thanked the Saudi leadership for the prestigious recognition and reiterated Pakistan’s unwavering support for Saudi Arabia’s security, stability, and prosperity. He also reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to enhancing bilateral defence ties and strategic coordination.
ISPR said the award reflects the growing strength of the Pakistan–Saudi strategic partnership, highlighting the deep-rooted historical, military, and diplomatic bonds between the two brotherly nations.
