Veteran actor Saba Hameed has broken her silence on the high-profile legal battle between Ali Zafar and Meesha Shafi, saying the family will not “accept defeat” as the case approaches a critical stage.
Speaking briefly to reporters outside a local court, Hameed — who has been attending proceedings on behalf of her daughter — refrained from detailed comments, citing the imminent verdict. “We have been fighting this for eight years, and we are not accepting defeat in this matter,” she said, adding that respect for women remains central to the issue.
The case dates back to April 2018, when Shafi accused Zafar of harassment, triggering one of Pakistan’s most widely discussed celebrity legal battles. Zafar has consistently denied the allegations, calling them baseless and damaging to his reputation.
Once known for their close friendship and professional collaborations — including the song Chal Dil Mere — the two artists have since been locked in prolonged legal proceedings, with defamation claims and counterclaims shaping the courtroom battle.
During the latest hearing, Zafar was seen leaving the court premises alongside his wife, Ayesha Fazli, as media and public attention intensified around the case.
With a decision expected soon, the case continues to dominate conversations on social media, where users remain sharply divided, reflecting the broader debate around accountability, reputation, and justice in high-profile allegations.
