Bank Clarifies Credit Card Irregular Transactions, Rules Out Cyber-Attack

During routine monitoring, the Bank identified certain irregular credit card transactions and immediately initiated an internal review. The review established that the transactions occurred due to a temporary technical glitch in the credit card system, which enabled a limited number of the Bank’s existing customers to execute unauthorized transactions.

The Bank clarified that the affected customers, as reported in a section of the media, were not linked to any specific government scheme or program, including the Asaan Karobar Card. Instead, the issue impacted a specific set of the Bank’s credit card holders in general.

According to the Bank, the technical issue was not the result of any cyber-attack. The identified system gap has since been fully rectified, and the system update carried out on Friday, January 2, 2026, is unrelated to this particular credit card issue.

Recovery actions have been initiated in line with the Bank’s standard procedures. The Bank stated that most customers have already come forward and begun paying the over-limit amounts, while all necessary remedial measures are being implemented.

The Bank also dismissed circulating claims regarding the quantum of the amount involved, terming them highly speculative, exaggerated, and incorrect. It added that the situation remains fully manageable for the Bank.

All impacted credit card holders have already been contacted and informed by the Bank. Customers who have not been approached remain unaffected and have no cause for concern.

The Bank advised customers to remain vigilant against any unauthorized advances and to engage only with authorized Bank officers after due verification of their identity. Customers have been urged not to entertain anyone whose legitimacy is suspected in any manner.
