Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has announced a landmark set of youth-focused initiatives, declaring 2026 as the “Year of Youth” across the province. Speaking at the Honhar Scholarship and Laptop Scheme event in Lodhran, she unveiled plans to distribute 100,000 electric bikes to students, aimed at promoting affordable, eco-friendly transportation. The Punjab government will also begin annual distribution of 100,000 laptops and scholarships starting next year. In addition, new IT cities will be developed in multiple districts, alongside the establishment of an Artificial Intelligence Center in Lahore. She also launched the Parwaz Card, a program designed to support skilled youth in career growth.
Maryam Nawaz emphasized that development will not be limited to major cities alone. Districts including Rawalpindi, Lahore, Multan, Layyah, Bhakkar, Sahiwal, and Lodhran will receive equal attention under the provincial development agenda. She also highlighted progress on the Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar housing scheme, under which 125,000 homes are being built, with 50,000 already completed. Her leadership reflects a strong focus on inclusive growth, youth empowerment, digital transformation, and social welfare.
