People in Lahore are getting more upset due to long traffic jams caused by Pakistan Super League (PSL) team movements. The teams are staying in hotels and traveling daily to Gaddafi Stadium or the LCCA Ground for matches and practice.
On Monday evening around 7:30 PM, traffic police stopped all vehicles near Muslim Town Mor to clear the way for a PSL team going back to its hotel on The Mall. The team was expected to cross the Canal Road bridge at Muslim Town.
But even after 30 minutes, the road was not reopened. Many people got stuck in traffic for over 20 minutes. The line of cars stretched for almost a kilometer. Frustrated drivers started honking horns loudly in protest.
For over 10 years, tight security has been common during international cricket in Pakistan. But authorities are still using old-style traffic block methods. This creates big problems for the public.
What Can Be Done Better?
Experts say it’s time to use modern security technology, like smart monitoring systems, which can protect teams without stopping city traffic.
Alternate Routes for the Public:
To avoid traffic during PSL movements, drivers in Lahore can use these alternate roads:
-
Ferozepur Road instead of Canal Road
-
Mall Road via Jail Road
-
Main Boulevard Gulberg for central city travel
-
Shadman to Wahdat Road for local routes
Public Demand:
People want better planning and smarter ways to protect teams without making citizens suffer. They are calling on the city government and PSL organizers to take action.
