The Pakistan Super League (PSL) is preparing to enter a historic new phase as the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) officially confirms ten bidding groups for two new franchise licenses. This expansion will increase the league from six to eight teams in its 11th season, scheduled for 2026. The development marks a major milestone in PSL’s evolution, reflecting its growing popularity and commercial strength both locally and internationally.
The franchise auction is set to take place on January 8, 2026, at the Jinnah Convention Centre in Islamabad. The two successful bidders will join PSL 11, which will run from March 26 to May 3, 2026, promising fans a longer and more competitive tournament.
Interest in PSL ownership has intensified, with leading corporate, technology, and investment groups entering the race. Companies such as Inverex Solar Energy, VGO TEL Mobile, OZ Group of Companies, and telecom giant Jazz have emerged among the qualified bidders. Their participation highlights the league’s strong brand value and its reputation as one of the most competitive T20 tournaments in world cricket.
Following the auction, new franchise owners will be allowed to select home cities approved by the PCB, including Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Hyderabad, Sialkot, Muzaffarabad, and Gilgit. This move will further strengthen cricket’s reach across Pakistan.
The MediaBites team congratulates the PCB and all qualified bidders on this landmark step. The PSL’s expansion represents progress, opportunity, and a brighter future for Pakistan cricket.
